New Year's Resolution: Blog More
It's been 2 1/2 months since the last post - our apologies! With only six months to go until the wedding, there is much to write about...so I promise to update more frequently from here on out.
Since last writing we have settled into our new house, acquired an antique dining room table, six chairs and two buffets (driven 1,200 miles from Memphis to Denver by dp), I completed my first quarter of grad school, dp built a fence and together we booked our honeymoon! Lots of accomplishments.
The house is really coming together and beginning to feel much like a home. dp spent a good portion of our first couple months here digging out an old, rickety chain link fence and replacing it with a beautiful, brand new wooden one (see picture above). We also installed a doggie door so Frisbee can go as he pleases. He quite enjoys his new backyard! His favorite new hobby is standing with paws perched on the back window, eyes fervently studying the yard for any squirrel that dare set foot in his domain. As soon as he spies one, he takes off as fast as he can, barking ferociously. It's a game he loves and that occupies him for hours...but terrifies his mom. I dread the day he brings back a "prize" from such an attack. Yeesh.
As I mentioned before, dp also drove 2,400 miles (to and from Memphis) over Christmas to bring back his great grandfather's dining room table and two buffets. They are a beautiful addition to our house, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures yet - I'll take some soon.
In November I completed my first quarter of grad school at the University of Denver. I absolutely loved the classes I took in those first ten weeks, and look forward to the next batch (beginning tomorrow). I'll graduate in 2012...so far away...as a licensed School Pyschologist. I miss having a steady job (and paycheck) but quite enjoy my classmates and the profession I'll soon join.
And perhaps the most exciting news is that we booked our honeymoon! We leave July 21st for Barcelona, Spain where we will board a 12 night Mediterranean Cruise. We'll see the likes of France, Italy, Turkey and Greece...and hopefully have some time to explore Barcelona on our way back. It's going to be incredible and we can't wait.
I think that's all from our end! The wedding planning is coming along nicely though the fact that I can now say I'm getting married THIS YEAR overwhelms me. Not for wedding jitters, fears or second thoughts (there are NONE of those) but because I feel like I have so much to do...and two quarters of grad school to complete! EEEK! So far planning an out of state wedding has been zero problemo, but now many things require my presence (tastings, finalizing flowers, dress fittings) and I will be making many a trip between Kansas City and Denver. I welcome any advice, thoughts or ideas in these coming months!
Hope everyone is well. I'll leave you with much promised pictures of our new home. Love to all!
